Disable display-related features?

Description
I like the ability to automatically batch-create and link the Image nodes, but want to be able to disable the display features (I plan to use inline or image attach for node views, Views for teasers/lists)
Maybe a feature request to put this as a config option?
I'm not a coder but it seems maybe a simple patch along the lines of http://drupal.org/node/238342 might do it?
