Does the 5.x series really need Views 2? Or is that for the 6.x series? I only ask because in the latest release notes, under bug fixes is this link: #285293: CCK Preview Error with Link Field which is a 6.x issue.

Subscribing too. Looks like the release notes for 5.x-2.5 and 6.x-2.5 are identical.

Pretty sure this is a copy and paste error. Looked at the differences between 5.x-2.3.1 and 5.x-2.5 and they are minor, nothing related to views.

I updated the release notes to be a little more clear about the fixes included. In the list of changes, I noted that the Views2 fix was for Drupal 6 only, but the introductory text was misleading about the need to update.

To clarify: The Drupal 5 version does not need to have Views updated. Only the Drupal 6 equivalent of Link module was affected by this particular change.
