I belong to a search & rescue group called Pacific Northwest Search & Rescue, and about I year ago I re-did the site with Drupal to make updating it much easier and taking the workload of off our President. It has made a huge difference in our group in terms of distributing workload and has become a very useful tool in providing information both to our members and non-members.

Recently I found out that a publishing company came across it and liked it enough that they want to use part of it as an example in a textbook on technical writing. The company is Longman Publishers (part of Pearson Higher Learning publishers), and the book will be called Technical Communication Today, 3rd Edition. However, they're not interested in the entire site, but just the front page layout and the intro text that is in the top center panel.

I haven't done a whole writeup on the site since it's not really anything complex. The front page uses Panels 2 with some embedded views. It also uses AcidFree for photo galleries, Calendar module, forums, and a lot of CCK/Views. The theme is a customized version of CMS Theme done by Theresa Pridemore, a local design goddess.

In addition to what is there, I'm working on adding some Google Maps functionality to pinpoint locations we visit a lot for training and frequent searches. I also need to create a custom module for tracking our membership activities. Since this is a volunteer thing for me, it doesn't get quite the attention that I could give to it, but it still does the job pretty well for what we need.
