Search modules

Hi. I'm trying to make my site as searchable as possible (by the user). My site holds a number of products that have typical product codes. E.g. there is the HGY-0045. If users search for HGY nothing shows up. If they search for 0045, nothing shows up. If they search for HGY-0045 they get a result. I've already installed the Porter Stemmer module, hoping it would take care of this problem as well. But it didn't.

Anyone know of good search modules that could fix this problem?

Thanks,
Luke

There are custom solutions

There are custom solutions like http://drupal.org/project/apachesolr that I could imagine would get you better search results. While Drupals core search did improve alot in Drupal6 there are still cases where it won't get you where you want. Third party solutions wich integrate in Drupal nicely are however not easy to setup and you need access to the server for the ones I know of. The other solutions, easy to setup but ugly, is to use google or something like that...

Here in the search group you will find different solutions:

And here are all the search modules:

Hi. Thanks for that! That looks promising. I'll definitely look into it.

though not yet ready for d6

though not yet ready for d6 yet, i like the http://drupal.org/project/faceted_search and http://drupal.org/project/cck_facets modules. Not strictly search, they are very useful.
