Display search results in 1 tab

Description
Can the files be shown within the same list of search results as drupal nodes?
The reason is to allow users to just click 'search' and not have to concern themselves whether content is part of a node, or an attachment when searching.
This comment makes it sound as if this wsa the way it worked at a certain point before breaking into a separate tab?

But that was last year... I wonder if it could be an option now?
