Description

question: once the module is installed/enabled (including the package from http://xinha.python-hosting.com/wiki/DownloadsPage) how to I make it work? I'm trying to create NEW content or modify existing content and all I see it PLAIN form boxes. I'm using the latest drupal, a custom theme and have enabled "rich text editor while authoring" under my user settings.

Thanks

Firstly, You have unpacked the downloaded archive into the htmlarea directory?

Secondly can you please upload the static html from the edit page and it should be able to tell why it is not working.

thanks for the reply :)

I'm confused by this step:
"2. download Xinha from http://xinha.python-hosting.com/wiki/DownloadsPage
and unpack it into your htmlarea module directory."

does this mean I need to create a directory called "modules" and extract the files there? of does this simply mean I have to extra the files in to the root of the htmlarea directory?

thanks

hi again,

I extracted the files to the root of the htmlarea module and enabled every plugins under settings/htmlarea.
now when I go to edit an existing article/content I still only get a plain text box.

FWIW, I'm having this same problem on a fresh 4.6.0 install. I had it working on a 4.5.0 box without problem but it's obvious that things have been overhauled significantly since then :)

Attached is the source of one of the pages that *should* have an HTMLArea text box.

AttachmentSize
submitstory.htm 6.71 KB

I have checked this and the htmlarea code is not being included on the page.

there is 2 reasons for this.

1. Xinha is not installed in the correct place. It should be in the path modules/htmlarea/xinha, modules/htmlarea/xinha-nightly
2. on the page administer > settings > htmlarea the page that you are using is excluding the textarea that you think it should be using.

Send me a copy of the directory structure of your web site, It is most likely problem 1.

It was in fact problem 1 - it was not clear at what level the xinha components were to be extracted to, and I had everything up one level higher than it should have been. Re-extracting so that it matched the dir structure you suggested worked perfectly.

Thanks for a great module!

i don't now what i do wrong but i installed html area and xinha and enabled the module.
but i still see a plain text editor whan i want to add a story.
what did i do wrong?
here's a directory list from root/modules/htmlarea : http://www.hinfo.be/htmlarea.txt

the module is activated and in settings > htmlarea everything is right

see screenshot at www.vinzz.be/scrsht.jpg

maybe because i'm using a diffrent theme (from leaf)
or because the site is in dutch?

please help me
thanks

Which directory did you install the xinha-nightly in. It should be in modules/htmlarea.

Also upload a copy of the source of the page where the editor is supose to be showing, and I should be able to tell you where is it.

htmlarea has to be shown when i want to add a story on my site (node). i don't exactly now where the source is standing.

and if i find the source, what should i add or remove in it?

where should it be standing?
i'm using the theme: Leaf (edited some things in it)
using drupal version 4.6.3

thanks.

ps. next thing i noticed is that the search function from drupal is not working. do i have to activate something for that?
the module "search" is activated
in settings --> search, are these options selected:
- the index status is standing on: 0% of the site is indexed. there is still (x>0) item(s) that has to be indexed
- throttle is standing on 100
- minimum wordlength for indexing is 3
- minimum searchlength is also 3
( i disabled the search module now, because it isn't working)

srry forget something you asked:

the directory of xinha-nightly is:

www.hinfo.bel/modules/htmlarea/xinha-nightly/

drupal is installed in the root of the site

i fixed the search fault

just opend the cron.php file in my brwoser and everything is working fine now, execpt the htmlarea thing

could somebody make a better installation guide maybe, or is everything in the current installation guide (txt) good?

maybe it is in conflict with tinymce, but i disabled the module because it doesn't work right. i see and can use tinymce, the first time i post a story, everything is like i wanted it. But when i edit a post he ignores evey layout of the text i've made :(
so now i tried htmlarea, and that is doing nothing.
if somebody could fix or now one of these two faults to be corrected, please let me know

one thing i forget is that i us xtemplate for my theme! could that make the fault?

thanks in advance
vinzz
