Hi Nesta,
I'm thinking about modules that allow searching for different kinds of content, which add those options in different tabs - like the user search, or to search files (by search_attachments, swish, and search_files), and Location search.
I'm wondering how possible it would be to add a search configuration option to display those various searches within the same tab? This would allow users to return various search results (could be organized by views if needed) by only having to search once.
My particular interest is in searching the content within attachments - users tend not to understand why they need to click a second tab to apply their same search to different areas of the site, and would prefer the site's search would search through everything at once.
There have been some attempts (like search_all, but that's not ported to Drupal 6), and some discussion here:

I just thought - since there's a port to 6.x version of Search config already in teh works, this might be a good place to set this option. What do you think?
Cheers :)

Scott,
I'll look at it and see how feasible it is. Thanks for the links.
