I have virtual sites working with subthemes for each. These worked until I installed simplemenu. After I had installed, the virtual sites all adopted the main site theme rather than their assigned themes.

Disabling simplemenu reversed this immediately.

Any ideas anyone?

ps this only affects a logged in user. anonymous users (not displaying simplemenu) get the correct themes.

I think #336119 probably cleared this up. I'm not sure what you're talking about with "virtual sites", but the problem in that issue made effected all custom theme switching.

Let me know if it did in fact fix your issue.

This is from 2008. Closing. I never had any similar problem with any of the multi-site multi-theme module I checked.

Hi there,

I updated SimpleMenu from 6.x.1.2 to 6.x.1.6

I am using the 'Virtual sites' module as well in order to have different themes for the various sections.

Version 6.x.1.2 worked fine and left the themes alone.

Like version 6.x.1.4 version, 6.x.1.6 switches the theme of all sections to the admin theme for those people who have Simplemenu enabled.

Disabling SimpleMenu restores the situation.

Variations of the Simply Modern theme are used.

Any ideas other than switching back to version 6.x.1.2 as I like the module very much!

Hi JanPieter,

I tested and it does not work at all for me. With or without the SimpleMenu module installed.

At first I created a condition, but since it wasn't working, I changed it with "ALWAYS ON" and that does not even work either.

Then I removed ALL the modules, except Core Blog and Core mandatory. Thinking that there could be a problem with any one module. It still does not work. And when I say uninstall, it was uninstalled completely, ran the Uninstall under the Module system.

I think that module sucks. 8-)

Why don't you use themekey? You don't need condition and it has the advantage of working too.

Thank you.

Thanks for your response, Alexis.

I appreciate very much that you try to recreate my site situaton.

I use Conditions and Virtual Sites for some time now without any problems especially because it enables me to set lots of different (global) variables for each site. Themekey doesn't seem to do this as far as my German understanding goes.

As NiceMenus v1.2 does not contain a security risk I am happy to stick to that version for the time being.

Best wishes,

JanPieter.

Hallo JanPieter,

Yes. I even, just in case, created a brand new website without anything else than the default Core (from the default profile) + Conditions + Virtual Sites and that did not work either... I'm wondering if that could be because I'm using a multi-site install.

In any event, you are correct, Themekey does not offer any variable support as Virtual Sites seems to offer.

NiceMenu is a good solution too, but maybe you meant SimpleMenu 1.2? 8-)

Sorry that the new features won't work for you.

Hallo Alexis,

sorry for the slip 'nicemenu', I really meant the nice simplemenu! :-)

'Virtual sites' does not seem to work on a multi-site install. It is actually a single site tool that presents itself as multi-site... e.g. it can use differerent URLs for one single site and present them in turn to the user as different sites. Hence the word 'virtual'. That could be the source of the confusion.

Success!

By "Success!" did you mean that now works? Can we mark this as fixed?

There will be 1.8 coming out with some other fixes in regard to theming (i.e. the theme() function loads the default theme and does not give other modules to load their own theme.)

Thank you.
Alexis

The problem is still there. Sorry. As soon as 1.8 is there I will try again.

1.8 was out 2 days ago.

Note that you need to make sure that the settings are correct (i.e. make sure that the theme() function doesn't get used!)

Thank you.
