Description

Hi,

Nice work! IMO this is a better alternative that Similar by terms. Is there any plans for views support? Thanks!

Not entirely sure what you mean by "Views Support"...

Relevant Content finds other nodes which are similar to the current node. A View simply provides a listing of nodes.

How do you think this module could support Views? I am interested if there is a genuine case...

Oh sorry I will elaborate. Currently relevant contents output results as a list, What I mean is it will be great if we are able to customize the display of the results, such as outputting the results to a view, etc : ) I had min coding knowledge, wish I could help though......

Btw related views is one module that output results to a view, but it can only take in the first term argument from a node i think..

Ahh this is a feature request I have planned :-)

The way I was planning on this was to allow site owners to override the individual blocks at theme level... For example, "Relevant Images" would be best displayed as imagecache powered thumbnails rather than an unordered list of links...

Would like to second this feature .. such an amazing module!

Hoping that next to the title of the relevant content to be able to add a CCK field, so for instance in :

Job Offers Block

Video Director (title) : Cape Town (CCK field)

Presuming that would include a view?

Is there perhaps any possibility of this feature please?

All the best, and thank you.

The way I'll probably do this is implement "custom" theme functions like Views does...

There will be a core theme function for general use - this can will be overidable in your theme and will effect all blocks which dont have a custom theme function (see below).

There will also be a theme function per-block id. This would allow you to have a relevant content block for your blog (for example) which lists just titles BUT allow you to define a Job offers block (using your example) theme override which displays the output is some custom way.

That's sounds amazing!

Perhaps a possible date of expected release .. :) .. ?

Unfortunately that isn't possible... It's entirely random when I get a spare moment to work on these projects at the moment...

This isn't forgotten... I just need a little spare time to look into it ;)

Just love the CCK field (read only)!

Just maybe possible as mentioned before if we could add a CCK field to the block as well .. :)

.. for instance in the Relevant Content block ..

Video Director (title) : Cape Town (CCK field)

Look so forward to this capability, and thank you.

Hmm so your suggestion is really more like "provide a token template for outputted fields"... Interesting idea!

Hi Nicholas,

You mentioned that "provide a token template for outputted fields" is an interesting idea. Perhaps any chance of you developing something like that for Relevant Content?

If only I could ... I would .. :)

As I'm using Relevant Content extensively on my site, that extra field would make an amazing difference.

Look forward to your reply.

I'm planning on adding that feature in the next release.

This is such a great module, but i'm having a hard time theming the output...

Just an idea: Could does module use a view as it's display option? meaning, after finding the relevant content, it will send them to a view which can then be themed and displayed?

Hi!

As always, so thankful or this wonderful module.

Nicholas, just wondering, is there perhaps any progress on:

1. the ability to change the block title to output Relevant Content by 'Category. 'Category' being the Taxonomy Term .. http://drupal.org/node/353479

Presuming it would be a token that we would be able to insert, or as the relevant content block already finds the current taxonomy term (as it does to output the content) then just add the term into the block title :)

2. as in your comment at #11 above in this thread ...

provide a token template for outputted fields

my request ..

Just love the CCK field (read only)!

Just maybe possible as mentioned before if we could add a CCK field to the block as well .. :)

.. for instance in the Relevant Content block ..

Video Director (title) : Cape Town (CCK field)

Look so forward to your reply, and thank you.

Yes, I too would like better integration with views. I'd love to be able to display thumbnail images of the related nodes, instead of the titles.

lots of thanx so far for this module!

Views would allow customisation of the order relevant content is presented... for instance I'm using the "weight module" so I can tune the order faqs are presented. I've currently hacked this module to incorporate page/story assigned weights too. Can post my version of the sql if interested (obviously doesn't use views and is really simple). But obviously if I didn't need to hack that would be better!

Therefore I would like to add my support for this request....

Great module as is and looking forward to the next release!

Views support would be great so that other filters could be applied, allowing for the most relevant content of specific types to be returned. I think we need both a views filter and a views sorting ability.
