Hey there,
I'm just reviewing this module and ran it through the coder module. It had a few very cosmetic code style errors which I've fixed for you in the attached patch.
I'm also looking to expand on the work you've done on this module to allow the countdown function to be optionally applied to CCK text fields with max lengths, perhaps also even allow for the a second option to allow a min word/character count UP for fields with minimums instead of maximums. Just applied the patch, it is in CVS. Thanks a lot.
Closing this issue. For the CCK fields there is another issue open, please post there in that regard:

If you end up working on a minlength feature then please open a feature request and use that issue to track this feature.
