I'd like to see post settings form moved from a blanket setting, as it is now, to a per content type setting. The same way the comments settings form has been moved between D5 & D6.

Doing so would allow for different teaser lengths on a per content type basis and a # of posts on overview pages.

Getting the front page to respect those settings on a per content type basis may be useful as well.

That request is looking to relocate the menu item itself.

The only thing you can't adjust per node type is teaser lengths or the preview post. The other option is for the front page only, and shouldn't be configurable per node type. I'm going to mark this as a duplicate of #20124: Teaser limits per content types.
