How did you learn drupal 6 if you were just new to drupal and new to community website construction?
What was your learning curve? Still, many (helpful) documents are based on drupal 4/5. Some books and video materials on drupal 6 are coming, but many seem to focus on transitioning form earlier versions to new one.
I can hardly get a good grip on drupal 6 by simply watching some of those videos or reading tutorials.
For newbies who have enough IT background to easily pass the install phase (apache, php, mysql, and drupal 6) and who knows some degree of web servers, php, and DB in general and mysql, but not having any experience on production level community website constructions, any advice to effectively learn and be able to construct a drupal powered site?
Well, I am just frustrated by myself not being able to master it quick, but any guidance would be appreciated.

Mercer book ...
I'd recommend getting the David Mercer book on Drupal 6. It's excellent.

... and of course read as much of the Drupal Handbook docs as possible. There's such a wealth of good resources right here on drupal.org:

I have recently purchased
I have recently purchased this book as well, its a very good read.
Drupal Pro Development
I personally use Drupal Pro Development, the second edition is written for Drupal 6, does not require you to have read through the first or have prior experience with Drupal, and is very clear. This will introduce you to how the software works and how to add on to it with custom modules and/or themes.
The final decision is personal choice though - I've not read through the Mercer book myself, but have considered getting it.
I briefly looked at those
I briefly looked at those two books and ordered Drupal Pro Dev.
Hope it is not outdated already. ;)
I will be also getting http://drupal.org/node/308925 when it is available.
Thanks.

Just start doing some work and you will learn "on the fly". That's the best way I know. Just get your hands dirty with Drupal and you will learn plenty of stuff altogether.
Good luck! :)
