Hi folks,
I know that there has been some discussion in drupal about exchanging richer data than RSS provides. Sharing more content than feeds. I was looking for threads about what options had already been considered.
I'm also interested in knowing if folks have experimented with creating vendor-neutral XML schemas to exchange information. I'm looking at opportunities to exchange information between governments and across departments which is what I understand OASIS http://www.oasis-open.org/ and other agencies such as Europe's IDABC http://europa.eu.int/idabc/ have been doing.
Anyone in the drupal community been involved in any of these initiatives?

There are quite a few people experimenting with sending around more information than what the "base" RSS or Atom provides.
I spoke with Kieran Lal, the CTO of CivicSpace, about this the other day. We at Bryght are interested in implementing and supporting new standards as well.
I think we'd like Drupal to become the tool of choice for people experimenting with this stuff. walkah's recent patch allows elements to be easily added to Drupal's default RSS feeds, so we have a lot of the work done already to start working with this stuff.
And of course, I can never not mention John Van Dyk's fantastic publish and subscribe modules. They are Drupal-specific today, but should be seen as a basis for connecting to other web services in a very rich way.

Is there a more complete listing on drupal.org of all active modules in the CVS and what versions of drupal they have been tested against?
Kinda confusing that there is a subscription, subscriptions & subscribe module. Would be really nice if there was a crib sheet that explained the differences for a quick overview of functionality.
Anyways, found them in the contrib CVS easily enough.
This drupal functionality is fine for now. Will be nicer when it is more generic, but not critical for right now.
Neither of these is listed as ready for production use though. Any ETA on what it would take to get it there?

Needs more testing and feedback
Publish and subscribe (and yes, the different subscri* modules are confusing) need more testing and feedback. I'm a big fan of the functionality, but haven't actually had a ton of time to work with them myself.
John's code tends to be quite good, so I would start experimenting right now, and give feedback on what direction you want them to go (as well as contribute code/patches, if that's your thing).

OASIS, Universal Business Language, RDF, and Workflow
Mike we are very interested in adding workflow to support OASIS standards like UBL. We also want Publish and Subscribe with RDF markup.
