I've marked "hide year and age" as 'yes', but the year of birth is still shown in the 'birthday' column.

I'm attaching screenshots of the difference in display when 'hide year and age' is turned on or off. It'll probably make troubleshooting easier.

By version I meant the number after the 'v' in line on top of birthdays.module

Found the problem. Fixed in HEAD (give it a few hours).

Be sure to re-submit your Birthdays admin settings page, because some variables were set wrong.
