Is Fileshare Dead? Alternatives for a download/file manager module?

I was looking to find a "file management" system for Drupal - to basically allow for a categorized listing of files that people can download (and upload), and apparently Fileshare was popular. Now, I don't see it anywhere and the actual Fileshare page appears to be restricted so I can't view it.
If Fileshare is dead, is there anything else that is recommended to do the trick? I want to set up a site that will allow people to download files and I haven't been having a lot of luck finding something that will provide easy navigation and looks nice and clean.

As for alternatives, a trendy method these days is CCK, filefield, and views.
sounds good
I will look into that, I know I have the relevant modules installed. However I have never used CCK and whatnot before so this should be a good learning experience.
Do you know of any topics/sites/etc. that include any more information on such a setup (aside from the Drupal documentation of course, which I will check out shortly)?
Thanks
Alright, I have been messing
Alright, I have been messing around with filefield and CCK and views and have questions for anyone "in the know."
I can get Views to return any files that have been uploaded to the site. Now ideally, I would like to display them based on taxonomy.
For example, if someone were to head into the files section, they would see these categories:
Appetizers
Main Courses
Drinks
Desserts
then if they click on main courses, they might see:
Chicken Dishes
Beef Dishes
etc
I don't see a way to do this with the sort or filter options. I don't see anything related to taxonomy listed. I am sure I am missing something obvious.
Thanks
