Hi All-

This is my first post here so please forgive me if this is not the right place to do it. I am trying to achieve a specific way to display my blog posts and "projects" (those will be a different content type).

You can see the effect here: http://www.poccuo.com/ I would like to show the 3 latest Projects side by side and then the 5 latest blog posts below also side by side.

My question is can i do this with Views or Panels? Or is this something i need to build into the theme.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, this can be done with views.
Download and install the cck module, views module and the views bonus package module.

I'm not going to explain the whole usage of those modules, but i can try to put you on the way...

add fields to your content type like image, description etc with the cck module.
After that you create a view with the grid view (of the views bonus package).

What if i want to do in Drupal 6? or should i just stick with 5?

If all the modules you need are available for d6 go with d6-- views2 in d6 is a huge step forward in features and functionality. And I'm not 100% sure that layout could be done with just views1 in d5-- i think you really need the views attachment function of views2 (unless you want to get heavily into views theming). Though if you really need d5 you should be able to get that layout with views + panels or maybe viewsfusion.

views bonus package module is not :( and it seems that one is key.

Yes, but the grid view style that comes with the views bonus pack in d5 is now part of the core views2 module.
