I'm currently planning on implementing Drupal on a school portal, where the parents can login as well as teachers and pupils to communicate any issues with teachers.
Would it be possible for you to implement a feature that means certain users can only send messages to other user groups

For example, teachers can send messages to all
Pupils cna only send messages to teachers
Parents can only send messages to teachers

and so on?

yes itspossible, but not something that wil happen any time soon. it needs some one to work on.

This issue is being closed because it is against a branch for a version of Drupal that is no longer supported.
If you feel that this issue is still valid, feel free to re-open and update it (and any possible patch) to work with the 7.x-1.x branch (bug fixes only) or the 7.x-2.x branch.
