Core developers, please make i18n module an out-of-a-box feature of Drupal.

Why? Because i18n is a MUST for successful worldwide web site, or better description would be a "non-Yankee" web site.

please add your efforts, test results, review and ideas to one of the various patches and request for i18n. Most of us agree its a necessity, yet no-one has come up with a core worthy, good working, clean and nice solution.

OK. But i think, you should give i18n a chance. Jose says that there is only one patch left to run i18n -with current features- with 4.7 http://drupal.org/node/30176#comment-51891. Why not to put it into core right now? If it will be in default installation people will demand enhancements to other modules to be i18n-compatible. Your problem is called "chicken or egg". Nobody knows what was first; and you are waiting for somebody from us to lay an i18n-golden-egg too. You should lay some simple i18n-egg and it will evolve into golden one.

... because 'getting something in core is a **very hard and long route**. It needs a lot more than a duplicated request.
Please -again- add your voice and ideas, code, time, reviews etc to on of the issues so that the patch makes a chance to be included, instead of voicing in a small corner where no-one (except those closing the duplicate issues) hears it.
