i'm using simpleviews right now, and it really IS simple ;) - how does this differ? it sounds nearly identical...

Simpleviews is built on top of the views module to facilitate creating views. Node Type Views automatically creates content listings for the content types that are enabled on the settings page. Node Type Views does not integrate with the Views module.
