I made this site last night and I consider it the only one I did "closest to being done" so far so I invite the other drupalers here to come take a look at it. Also I am extremely new to drupal so any suggestions, criticism or kudos would definitely be appreciated :)

I am particularly interested in social networking using drupal 6.x. I understand that not all the modules for this version are up to par yet but I cannot see myself going to an older version in order to run certain modules. I am a bit confused at the state of such modules as user relationships, Friendlist, buddlist2(I just read this is being dumped in favor of UR. WOW) so basically I'm reluctant to add these to my site until I have time to test each one and see it all for myself. Also I would like to help this community wherever I can as I learn drupal by contributing new modules as well as helping the port the zillions of modules that have seemly been left behind.

You made that last night? Pretty good for one night's work. :)

Yeah, the "friend" modules are a mess. :( Hopefully they'll converge at least at little. See http://groups.drupal.org/node/15508

I must be missing something as I don't see a link or an address to the site.

I have no idea how I missed that : )

Thank for the compliment Michelle. I really think that those modules converging in a healthy way would be good. Some guidance from Acquia wouldn't hurt ethier. Heres the link http://www.urbanhogs.com I overlooked that.

Well, it's pretty much down to user relationship and firendlist at this point. Friendlist was looking like a good replacement to UR, which had been abandoned but then UR got a new maintainer so it's all up in the air again. They both have similar features. So it's pretty much a coin toss which you go with. I'm probably going to go with UR just because the FL maintainer has been very nasty to me and others and I don't want to deal with him. But, objectively, friendlist seems like a fine module and I don't think you'd go wrong with it.

I noticed that the maintainer of Friendlist has been very rude to a majority of the members on this site. That also pushed me towards UR initially, however it seems that Friendlist is quite a bit further along, (i.e. with view integration and 6.x only focus). With UR development seemly stagnant at the moment and the talk of buddylist2 being deprecated in favor of Friendlist i think I would go with that but for the moment I'm taking the wait and see approach. Personally I'm hoping for the user relationship module to get updated soon.

UR is being worked on by a new maintainer so it's not out of the running. The FL maintainer and I seem to be at a truce so we'll see where it goes from here. Unfortunately, it's going to keep coming down to trying both modules and see what works best for your needs.

any chance you can share the theme??
Look at mine http://motorcycletrader.info
It would look sweet!

that could be possible. I am thinking about making themes to post here, however at the moment I don't know how standards compliant my theming work is. If that is not a problem then I could possibly help out
