I did some searching to see if I could find any information on this. While there are several topics relating to database size in general, I found nothing specific to the search module.
My database size is currently ~120MB, which is manageable for me and seems about normal given the amount of contents on the site and the watchdog and cache settings. When I enable the search module however, the database size expands to over 400MB, even if I set the word-length minimum to 4 characters (opposed from the default of 3). There is a lot of content in the form of pages, forum topics, and comments, some of which are lengthy, but even so this seems like a very excessive expansion in size.
A database size of this proportion would make restoring it very time consuming, though I suppose I could just empty the search table and let it re-index after restoring.
Is this normal or is something wrong?
