Different profile fields for different user using Advanced Profile Kit & Node Profile

I'm wondering if it is possible to have different profile fields for different user types such as groups,orgs or businesses?

The user type module allowed me to create different user types and create different profile content fields and apply them to certain user types but with the original profile module not the APK & node profile.

Do i even need the user types module or can i just use APk and Np modules to have different types of profiles and allow users to create a different profile based of their role. If so what is the best way to go about doing it?
