it would be great if there would be a option to switch between fixed width und variable width.

zilla commented...or percentage width like with the news theme - it has this nifty little admin option where you can pick fixed, fluid or set percentage of screen (e.g. 80 or whatever you want)
krobi commentedyes would be great
Comment #3
stephthegeek commentedWe're looking into this for this theme and others in the future, but it represents a non-trivial amount of reworking given the complexity of the theme and collapsible regions.
zilla commented@stephthegeek - thanks. if i had to choose, i'd take it as is (which is awesome) with all of the regions before tossing that level of control for fluidity ;)
krobi commentedis there any news on this?
are the developers working on these?
stephthegeek commented@krobi, we're seriously considering this but it wouldn't be something immediate.

Toddv commentedJust to subscribe - thanks!

aaron stanush commented+ 1 on this feature
A lot of publishing sites use a fixed width column, so it would be awesome to be able test modules in a slick fixed width theme for a demo site

degure commentedI there any schedule for this so far? I would greatly appreciate variable width.
hailaz commentedSubscribed and I agree, it would be great to have the options available. :0)

shroge commentedI've been trying to get this theme to be a fixed 760px width theme, but have been unsuccessful. I was hoping to use this theme in a facebook app iframe, which requires a max of 760px to not get the horizontal scroll bar. The changes that I've made have been in style.css. Is there somewhere else that I would need to make mods to get this to work? I'm currently using 6.x.1.9. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated...

khanz commentedwould love this feature..
gintass commentedI see that this option is already available in version 6.2.dev or at least I see it in configuration interface (see attached screenshot) although when you select "Fluid" option and submit, nothing changes. I still have a fixed layout, not fluid. I guess since this is a dev version it is still being implemented. Well, great to know that is is really coming.
The Crash commentedwhat the difference between fixed width & variable width ?
gintass commentedJust google on fixed vs. fluid web design and you'll find numerous articles.
gintass commentedOps! I should have read release notes for 'dev' which clearly states:
* Theme width: initial fluid/fixed width selection NOT FULLY FUNCTIONAL - layout styles need to be added
o theme_settings/fixed.css (empty)
o theme_settings/fluid.css (empty)

sp_key commentedAny updates with this?
stephthegeek commentedWe started on the Fusion port for Acquia Marina last week, which will have the option for fluid width included. Should be a couple of weeks until a new release
Comment #24
stephthegeek commentedShould start tagging for this!
frankie_2304 commentedwe want fluid!
sp_key commentedAny updates on when acquia marina goes fluid?
Is this still a requirement?
srobert72 commentedSubscribing.
I would want fluid layout also.
jeremycaldwell commentedTry the 6.x-2.0-alpha1 version of Acquia Marina and you will have fluid widths as well as RTL support. It's based on Fusion as the subtheme and requires the Skinr module. Be sure to try that out as it is the latest release and we will continue building off of that version.

sp_key commentedThanks for your suggestion.
Unfortunately as soon as I put it Panels, mini panels and ddblock all broke.
Also, the Save & Preview buttons you usually see when editing a node in Drupal have also dissapeared.
Rolling back to the previous version makes no difference so I guess with the click of a button I managed to give myself quite a lot of work for one afternoon :)
I might try it again in the future
Comment #31
srobert72 commentedI use 6.x-2.0-alpha1 version and it doesn't work for me.
In source code of my HTML pages I always see import CSS file :
grid16-960.cssWhether I choose "16 column fixed grid" or "16 column fluid grid" layout, same CSS is always imported :
grid16-960.cssgrid16-fluid.cssis never imported in HTML source code. It's not a problem with cached pages.
Same test with Acquia_Prosper works perfectly.
In fact there is a difference between those two themes.
Acquia_Prosper offers the choice to choose layout in
admin/build/themes/settings/acquia_prosperBut Acquia_Marina doesn't in
admin/build/themes/settings/acquia_marinaSo I've tried to select layout in Fusion_Core but it doesn't work neither.
Hope it could help.

srobert72 commentedI had this issue on an old running site.
Today I've installed new site for tests.
Issue doesn't appear and it works for this new site.
Maybe problem with only my old site.
I reclose this issue.
jeremycaldwell commentedWorks for the latest Alpha version of the theme.
brandonlcohen commentedMy website utilizes the logo, site name, slogan, and search box in the main display of the website.
With the fluid or fixed width, the site name and slogan get pushed to the next line.
I would like it to read:
Donate Your Processing
Socially Responsible Merchant Processing
at small widths it reads:
Donate Your
Processing
Socially Responible Merchant
Processing
If I remove the search bar this no longer occurs.
What is the best method to fix this issue? fixed min width? adjust search bar width?
Thanks,
Brandon
Comment #36
jeremycaldwell commentedHi Brandon, any reason why you are running the 2.x version of Acquia Marina? This theme isn't very well supported anymore since the 3.x release but we can try to help out. Can you provide us with a link to your site so we can see the issue in action?
