I see on the support site that there are files to place in the root. But not if you are using Drupal, correct? I installed the module but I'm not getting it to work.

You don't need to place the files in the root if you have installed this module. The instructions seen on the main FancyZoom website are to guide installation on a standard non Drupal site! If you install the module & tweak the settings to your requirements it should work straight away!
