Views Block Redirects

I use views to show the headlines/links to a certain content type in a block. I would like to use CCK Redirection to give users the ability to put links in that block to content which is external to the site, or to the content type pages. Unfortunately, this has the effect of causing every page containing that block to redirect to the URL entered in the CCK Redirection field. This is difficult to explain so pardon me if this isn't entirely clear.

Any ideas?
