The web page http://drupal.org/project/authentication seems to be a orphan/ghost web page (created in 2003) and probably should be removed.

Specifically, the "Download latest release (cvs)" link on that page is broken ( points to the non-existant web page http://drupal.org/files/projects/authentication-cvs.tar.gz )

Is there anyway to search the rest of Drupal for references to this web page?

Yes. Google can find any links to it:

1) Insert the url into Google.
2) Then in the return, use the link in "Find web pages that link to drupal.org/project/authentication."

According to Google, there don't appear to be any linking pages. External or internal to drupal.org.
