Its really needed for 6.x, i must say. There is no module atm with that functionality for 6.x and this one is the easiest and completest i checked out for 5.x.

Here is a 6.x patch.
It works flawless so far.
Please have in mind that i started with drupal 5 days around.
8 hours ago i even don't knowed what a .module file is.
But the upgrade was easy, mainly because the core code
of this module don't touch the (changed) drupal api.

Awesome! I was trying to find something with this functionality but when that failed I was going to post a feature request of my own. Time to check it out and see how it goes.

UPDATE - This appears to be working just fine. I will let you know if I come across any problems but you may be able to release this already patched. Thanks for all the hard work! ^_^
