allow masquerading as anonymous user

Anonymous masquerading used to be allowed, but was disallowed in CVS revision 1.15.2.3 by Gurpartap, then removed entirely by cYu in 1.15.2.8 because it was disallowed anyway. I remember it had some unpredictable behavior (like having a switch back link stuck in the cache table that didn't work, which meant you had to log back in anyway - see #5 on #88899: New Masquerading Features). Perhaps pinging Gurpartap would get a better explanation since the CVS comment is merely "Lots of improvements and bug fixes."

Have brought the feature back in 6.x release as I am unable to reproduce the problem 5.x release used to have long back. (as i remember).

Hehe, actually you'll need to use the block, enter nothing and press Go or goto ?q=masquerade/switch/0.

I am testing this in the latest stable release V1.3

* I can switch if I type in "anony.." in the block
* I cannot switch by leaving it blank as stated in the previous comments. The text box is required so cannot be left blank
* If I want to add the anonymous user the the possible list of users he can switch to the anonymous user does not appear

I can confirm buckley's comment, except I cannot even switch to anonymous when typing in "anony.." or "anonymous" or blank.
Adding ?q=masquerade/switch/0 works
This bug should be reopened.
Using drupal 6.16 with masquerade 6.x-1.3.

Edit: actually entering "Anonymous" works.
The anonymous user can even be set in Site configuration/Site information
Blank still not working, says field is required

Perhaps also a link next to the input box for fast switching to anonymous?

I think that would be more obvious than a blank search but to include that too with a message would be nice

I can t get the anonymous switch to work, Drupal 6.19 and Masquerade 6.x-1.4

Any update on this? I am using masquerade with Drupal 7 RC3 and I still can't masquerade as anonymous. This is a much needed feature!

I can switch to Anonymous user, but not switch back... Using version 6.x-1.5
