Ive set the administration for editing content to garland

when I try to make changes to my profile fields it uses the current theme - this is a problem as the fields I have created dont appear in my default theme - I was wondering why it doesnt use the garland theme (administration) it seems to be similar behavior to using/editing blocks

Profile tabs only appear in core themes ie Garland

has anyone experienced the same problem
