Site-wide content types doesn't restrict by user permissions

I have enabled a few content types in the "Site-wide" list, so they show up for certain users who have the "create" permission for that node type. However, the content types show up for users without permissions as well. When they click to add a node without permission, they get a white screen. Shouldn't the links to create content without permission be hidden?
