Hey all,
I've just installed Organic Groups 6.x-1.0-rc6 along with Views integration, but when I create a new group I can't find any mechanism to subscribe existing users to new groups. When I create a new user it shows up as an option in the registration form just fine. I've tried various settings, right from an open group to a closed group, with no results - am I missing something?
Many thanks,
Adam

update
Ok, I've found a partial answer.
For an open group, users can go into the groups page and click "join". My question now is: Suppose I want all group membership to be managed by an administrator i.e. all groups are closed. How then can existing users be added/removed from groups? Is this a function provided by OG or do I need an addon/patch/some hacking?

OK talking to myself again, seems the only way is to go into the groups page and click on the number of members, which then brings up some tabs - one of which is "add users". Not entirely obvious, but it works!
Well, this comment comes
Well, this comment comes late...
I had the same surprise: I could subscribe a new user to a group at the creation time, but once the user is created, the group selection on the user edit page disapear.
Then, the only way to add a user as admin is to go the group summary page and clic to the number in the "Members" column (I search for one hour before finding this)
This gets to a page whith an "Add user" tab
The last surprise is that you have to know by heart the names of the users you want to add...
Quite disturbing, definietly not Druaply!

Eisting users should join at the group list page
OK, I got the logic:
- subscribing to a group at the account creation is only a sound option for an adminstrator. someone willing to join the community should normally go to the project list page and request the membership where he can get the relevant information.
- the "Registration form" option for a group is disabled by default, which should be the right setting in most cases
