For my needs I've created extended version of this module, in my version it has possibility to send notification mails when user creates, updates or deletes content - based on content type, role dependant. There are also few more settings added.
If someone would lie to review my code and think of possibility to include some code and functions to extend this col module I would be happy to post it here. I thought it's much better to try to contribute to existing module than trying to post new one ...

Generally you include a patch of the module and mark it as patch needs review. I review all code that is posted for inclusion.

thanks for reply Robert. I have no skills with creating patches, sorry.
I can only post my entire code here or elsewhere (maybe marking what I've added/changed) so if you like to review. As I said it's nothing so new I just added few more functionalities that I needed for my website.
