CCK Content (missing)

I am trying to enable CCK, but it says "Content (missing)". I am unable to find any Drupal module called "Content" anywhere. There is no "Content" module under the CCK listing. Anyone know how to fix this?

The content module is the main cck module. Try downloading the module again. Make sure you downloaded the Drupal 5 version.

Now the Content module is greyed out

Thanks, I deleted CCK, and downloaded it again (twice) and now the Content module is there under CCK, but the checkbox for it is greyed out. The check boxes for several other modules are also greyed out even though all required dependencies mentioned are enabled. Could you let a Drupal newbie know what is happening?

Usually, if a module box is greyed out, that means you cannot yet disable it (odd, if it's not enabled yet). This is because there is another module that requires that module to be active.

So, I would disable all the modules that depend on CCK and see if that helps. Also, are there any error messages on your status report?

Ok, that explains it. All the greyed out modules are required by something. I still have other problems, but the greyed out boxes apparently aren't the cause of them. Thanks so much
