I realize this sounds like a stupid request, but when does a node become moderated? I thought in Drupal Core a node could either be published or not published.

Moderation is used by other Modules like http://drupal.org/project/modr8

If moderation isn't ready, nodes should be hidden, for example from frontpage

Thanks, I was scratching my head on this. Maybe a comment on the documentation that it requires a contrib module to work?
