I was trying to set up a simplified menu for the other user. I thought my changes would only effect that user. In fact, I have locked my self out of all administrative capacities. How do I change the settings? I can get in myphpadmin and the database but I am pretty ignorant -which table/s to I look for and what should I try to switch on/off?
I find it strange as I am the owner of the dbase and I thought I retain privileges..

What happens if you type the admin path directly into the browser address bar (after your domain name)?

It is difficult to make any suggestions for fixing something without knowing what is the problem which needs to be fixed.
Can't you go to the /user page and login as user 1, and then go to the /admin page?
no, I can't go to the admin page--there is no link to it...
I turned off lots of things in the menu for the other user, and just left him the capacity to blog, nothing else, but I thought this would only effect him, not me...

You can disable blocks for anyone, just because you don't want to see them.
However, you can't disable pages. You can always go to /admin and change anything if you are user 1.
ah, I put /admin in the address bar, and got to the admin, then,
I got to Site Building> Meneu and I clicked to get to permissions on different things..., what had happened is that I had unchecked some of the Navigation options that allow you to adminster different functions (e.g. Site configureation as a general heading, or specific functions like create pages).
What I have learned that in setting up a customization for another person, you need to work from permissions, not the menu!!
Right. Actually you can
Right. Actually you can disable some of the blocks for some users, but to do that you need to write php code in the block's "visibility settings" box.
thanks...
I've only been using drupal for 4 years as well....
