Getting this error when trying to register in Drupal, unsure of cause:

The e-mail address ~@~.~ is not valid in phpBB.

- I added ~ naturally, email is valid.

Stopping from user registration at both sites, please advise.

Once I've got this message because the E-Mail was already in use at the phpbb forum...

Hmm over a year later. I'm getting this error when trying to add a user manually in Drupal. I considered that it might be due to the email being in use in phpBB (it was for the site email), so I used another valid address (not that phpBB would know instantly whether an address was valid apart from improper formatting), and it rejected that too.

There are no other users in the system besides the user 1 account, so there can't be any other email conflicts, it's a clean install of Drupal 6.10 and phpBB3.0.4

This issue should be the same as #407116: wrong user email invalid from phpBB, or better, the mine is a duplicate of this one ;)
Never mind, can you confirm please this is fixed for you too?
