This issue came out of a discussion (in Swedish) in the Swedish Drupal Group.
There seem to be almost no documentation whatsoever about what a revision is. The best online text found so far is the one written by Robert Douglas, and is probably the best candidate as a source for a documentation page about revisions; what they are, how to use them and why.

johnnocI pasted some of the texts from http://groups.drupal.org/node/1875 in a new "Node Revision" handbook page under Node: the content and tagged it as "incomplete". The page still needs work.

jhodgdonI've done some work on the page - edited for style, and added a bit more information. I think it's in pretty good shape now.
