Social networking site

Hello,
I want to know what drupal version to start with to build a social network site?
I have already read this http://drupal.org/node/150874
But this was more then a year ago!
What are the key modules to start with?
There are some modules (like advanced profile kit) that are still not supported in version 6.
Or are there other new modules that can be used instead?
Thanks in advance.

The general consensus is
The general consensus is that still only Drupal 5 is good for a social networking site. Not only the advanced profile module, but not one of the modules on which it relies has been ported to Drupal 6 yet, and for most of them work has not even started.
On the other hand, I read an interesting thread where Bill Fitzgerald supported that social networking is fairly possible in Drupal 6, and that we just need to look at tools different from what we used to have:
http://groups.drupal.org/node/14867#comment-50180
In particular, he mentioned:
- the content_profile module which brings to profiles CCK (and its fields)
- imagefield and imagecache
- the flag module (The Module Formerly Known As views_bookmark -- I didn't see this coming) with some innovative uses shown in a video
- actions, token, and of course views.
.
APK is currently stuck on the fact that content profile doesn't have panels support and I ran into a roadblack trying to write it for fago.
Some suggestions for getting started with an SN site in either version can be found here: http://socnet.shellmultimedia.com
