I hope this is the correct place to ask this?
What I'm trying to do, is make something that will notify users on there home page, or elsewhere, when an event is posted that will be in the users area. I'm picturing something that I would enter a default distance from the user to watch. The event, and the user would have their location info entered, then when the user logs in, an notice shows where the event is in their area. I tried to experiment using Views, but it didn't work. Is there something I can tap into in Location that might do the trick?

This seems like a duplicate of #208686: Views filters - Filter by typed address and Filter by proximity to user comment #4 (but the proximity to user viewing seems to be getting lost in the shuffle a bit.)

And tagging.

You could create a block in Views that filters based on distance from the users location. You could include time if you only want to show new or current events.
