i think the "access discuss this links" should be splitted in 2 permission, one for accessing already created discussions and one for new discussions. cause guest eventually should see the link to the discussion if it is already started/created and should not see the link if there is no discussion started...

even better, i've rolled this into a thorough round of updates to the permissions/access control on this module, mainly inspired by your suggestion. check out (and test!) the latest cvs and tomorrow's nightly build to see if i've got this right ;)
