I have uploaded and set permissions for Drupal to run in a folder /blogs of my main site http://www.fibromyalgia-support.net/blogs/install.php but it will not run at all

I am on Linux PHP 4, MySQL

Played the video and read previous posts - .htaccess is there OK no solution

I get no error messages just a 404 -

Tried on Firefox and IE7 with same result.

Another PHP/MySQL runs fine on the site on another folder so I remain baffled

Is there a "simple" answer out there?

I deleted the .htaccess file in the folder where the programs are that did it

I would be grateful if you could give me more information since I am completely new to Drupal and can't get it to run at all.

My webhosting supplier insist that MySQL and PHP are working properly and wash their hands of me on the grounds that the proplem is with index.php. Presumably however Drupal is reasonably robust in that regard.

Hlep me please.

You should not delete the .htaccess that came with Drupal. This will expose some security problems to your site.

Your main problem could just be your Apache web server's configuration. You'll need to set AllowOverride to All.
