i have create a database drupal on phpmyadmin,but when i try to install drupal 6.5, at set up database step when i put database name,username and password, we can't go to next step.

have you enterd you database user and password in you settings.php?

I'm having the same problem - Can't pass the DB setup screen.

found an error in my steps: didn't copy default.settings.php to settings.php but just renamed the file.
solution: upload default.settings.php

still got stuck at next screen:

Installing Drupal
The installation has encountered an error.
Please continue to the error page

An HTTP error 501 occurred. http://**********.com/*********/install.php?locale=en&profile=default&id=1&op=do

The error page is a blank page

HELP!!
