My IM usernames mostly in myname.mysurname format (jack.ryan@hotmail.com, jack.ryan@yahoo.com,...etc) Is that module doesn't agree that kind of usernames?

oh ya i think the check does not allow it, you could edit the code to remove the username check or modify as it only validates alphanumeric characers. will take note of this in a future release... thanks
