Somebody accidentally posted some comments in the wrong topic. In the Administer > Forums section I see how to move around forums. But how do we move around comments and topics?
For now I just renamed things, since the intended target forum was still empty. But this would be useful to know how to do in the future.
Thanks,
doug

as an admin, edit the topic (thread) itself, change the taxonomy, and all comments will migrate with the taxonomy change as they are attached to the topic (thread).
Thanks for your reply. I
Thanks for your reply. I will check out "taxonomy". I haven't fiddled with that before.
By the by, is there a way of receiving email notifications of replies to posting in these forums here?
Thanks,

While it would be benefiical to understand the taxonomy.module, I think it is important to mention that for what you ask, you don't have to learn anything new. The forum module depends on the taxonomy.module therefore you already have it enabled. That is how forums are created. Forum container = vocabulary, forums = terms.
when you edit a thread (topic), you can move the forum (taxononmy term) it is posted in. The comments will move with the thread (topic).
no there is no email notifications here on drupal.org at this time. There are modules that do so in the downloads area if you want to employ that feature on your site.
You can move a forum to a
You can move a forum to a different forum container in admin/content/forum and then "edit forum". Just change its parent container.
You can move a forum topic to a different forum by editing the topic itself (there is a Forums selection box)
There is no practical easy way to move some comments (replies) from inside a forum topic to another one. The threading logic is complicated. There used to be a http://drupal.org/project/comment_mover module, only for Drupal 5 and without a stable release.
is it me?
I cant see anyway to move topics. My new form is upand running however the users are used to phpbb. They dont like the new forum but i have asked them to persevere as things will improve. Most of the users are not really pc literate and keep posting in the wrong topics and i cant see any way to move them. When i go in as admin to the forum and look at the offending topics there is no edit button so i can select the correct topic to move to.
Can someone tell me what it is i have done wrong in setting this forum up?
This is my first drupal site so please go easy on me!
Seems the question was rhetorical after all , all i had to do was look around , i hadnt noticed the EDIT tab beside view...doh!
