because twice as much code isn't necessarily twice as good a solution.

What would be the difference between the two?

well signwriter uses a font to render a string and can replace block or page titles this way, i haven't looked at your module. I just see from the description that it might better be integrated with signwriter.

I have seen how Signwriter works. When I had started to develop the Dynamic_Image module (sometime over the summer), I was particularly disliking the methodology of Signwriter. Hence why I started my own.

I'll spend some time reviewing it further and decide whether I wish to deprecate my version or continue with it.

Welcome to the Duplicated Modules Hall of Fame!

For sanity, I ask you to please consider :

  • Documenting on the project page what distinguishes it from others that it may be confused with. Both being 'simpler' and 'having more options' are regarded as benefits to different people!
  • Cross-linking from the your project page directly to competing or comparative modules to assist downloaders to make an informed choice.
  • Contacting other module issue queues with suggestions and feature requests along with sample code and "here's how I managed to do this".

I feel that the signwriter code needs to abstract its effect renderers a little more, but we really need to know what you disliked about it enough to start a competing (?) start-again module. Was it truly beyond help? Did the maintainer not respond to any constructive suggestions?
and what have you done better?

cheers, .dan.

Clearly, signwriter does all and more than this module every could.
