I am running Drupal 6.5, and everything is working smoothly except for comments. I can post a new comment, and preview a comment before it's posted. The number of comments is displayed at the bottom of the post. But when I click on the "x comments" link to view the posted comments, I get taken to the bottom of the post, and no comment is displayed.
I can view the comments inside of the "comments" table in the database. I've tried changing themes, but even the original Bluemarine and Minelli Themes behave the same way.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Are you using the 1 user or
Okay, I tested this. If I log in as "User 1" (Admin) I can post comments and they display properly within the post. But the comments posted by Anonymous users, users who have not logged in, do not display. They don't display to other Anonymous users nor do they display to the Admin user.
If an Anonymous user clicks the Preview button, the Preview of the comment is displayed, but once the Save button is pressed, the comment is no longer visible, even after refreshing the page or logging in as User 1.
Thanks.

Well, under "Permissions" > "comment module" all four of these options have checkmarks beside them, for both "anonymous" and "authenticated":
access comments
administer comments
post comments
post comments without approval

I *suddenly* started having the same problem after moving my site (Drupal 6.4) to the different hosting. It looks like the anonymous comments are not displayed. They do exist in the database and Views that utilize them (such as "last comments" view) is able to get data, but they are not displayed on the node page.
The only difference between the old (all OK) and new (problem) hostings seem to be that new hosting uses MySQL 5 and PHP5, while the old one used MYSQL 4 and PHP 4. Strange..

I checked my database
I checked my database which had the uid=0 user, however, I still don't have those comments automatically displayed.
I need to click the 'x comments' below the node (in my case, a story) before I can view those comments.
Brand new installation, no other additional module, no comment approval required ... i scratching my head.
Please help.
