Hi.
I read the article Congestion control: tuning the auto-throttle, and follows its intstruction. However I was stuck at point 5 "Enable the "throttle status" block".

When I went to administer » blocks, there's no such block named "throttle status".
What's wrong?

PS:
I have done the following:
- enable cache
- enable statistics module
- enable throttle module
- enable raw access log (set it as 1 week)

The block is still missing. ?_?
I'm using Drupal 4.6.3

If you go to administer > blocks, you should see a column that is called 'Throttle' which you can check or uncheck the box.

Does it really what the passage refers to?

The passage says:

5. Enable the "throttle status" block:
In order to properly tune the auto-throttle on your website, we need to have an understanding of how much traffic your site gets. The throttle module provides a block for this purpose. Go to the block administration page on your site at administer » blocks, and enable the "Throttle status" block. For this example, do not check "custom" or "throttle", but feel free to adjust the "weight" and "region" for whatever you prefer. Now click "Save blocks".
6. Configure "throttle status" block access permissions:
It is not desirable to allow your site's users to view the "throttle status" block that we have just enabled. This block is only intended as an administrative tool. If you are the only administrator of your site, and you administer your site as uid=1, then you don't need to set up any permissions -- by default, uid=1 has all permissions. However, if you have multiple administrators or administer your site with a different user account, you will need to click administer » access control and give your administrative group the "access throttle box" permission.

I don't think it is meant to be the throttle column where I can decide what to disable when the server is busy.

I expect to see a section where there's throttle status. And it seems this section is viewable by the users. And I need to disable the ability for them to view them.

Check access control. There should be an item for accessing throttle status. The block doesn't display except for users with access to throttle status.

I'm the administrator, so it should have displayed.
I checked "administration | access control | permissions" and searched for "throttle" or "status" in vain. :"(

I'm using Drupal 4.6.3

Any help?!?

The throttle seems to have lost some features -- and the throttle block -- when Drupal updated to 4.6.x. I believe this was reported, but I'm not sure.

same problem here.

for an inexperienced-newbie, drupal handbook is very confusing! a lot of un-updated infos.

This problem is still there. I can't find "throttle status" block in the version 4.6.5.

Just report.
