I'm trying to have a random recipe selected from all the recipes to display on the front page. I need a different one to appear each day. I looked at the Daily module, but I don't see that it can facilitate this. Does anyone know of any other modules that might be able to do this?

You can do this with a block
You can do this with a block view set to display 1 node with the "random" sort option.

ah yes-- it would, good point. iirc, the http://drupal.org/project/quotes module does something similar to want you want (quote of the day)-- perhaps a look at how it's done in that module would help.
