I'm looking into content management systems (CMS) for several sites which we want to be easily usable for a number of different
administrators with different permissions (ie some can edit content, others can change the structure of the site or design etc).
Other criteria for choosing the CMS are -
* the administrative section must be able to work in spanish
* open source
* there must be modules for mass-mailing & registering users.
* modules for photo gallery
* editing content must be easy for non-techy users
* it must be well documented so that future administrators could take it over easily.
I have been looking at joomla, typo3, drupal6 & wordpress. I have already decided against typo3 because of the learning curve required to learn it. Wordpress seems too limited for our needs. So I'm looking more seriously at joomla & drupal.
Using the demo installation that is online, I have found the administrative section of drupal 6 very pleasant
to use & already feel I know my way around. The permissions side of things is excellent. Joomla however has a very easy interface for content editors, but I am reading things like "Overkill of functionalities, complex content structures (menu's, sections,
categories)" about joomla.
I haven't been able to work out if I can do mass-mailing to registered users, if it is possible to install a module that allows content managers to edit directly in a page like joomla & if there is a stable photo gallery module.
Can anyone advise me if drupal 6 will fit all our criteria?
Many thanks for any help you can give.

All Drupal content editing is performed directly in-page. If you are looking for a WYSIWYG HTML editing component, there are at least half a dozen options in the contributed modules collection. Choose one depending on your preferences.
There are a number of options for sending bulk mail and newsletters. I recommend the SimpleNews module.

Thanks for your help - the simplenews module looks like it might do the trick, although I notice it is in beta.
I've now seen how to edit inline & I'll look into the WYSIWYG editors.
