Description

Hello,

I like this module and its clean code-base a lot, but it appears that it is not being maintained. There are several issues and suggestions unanswered for more than a year.

I would like to do a few things for a first round. 1. Rework the current "Bet offer" node into a "Market" node. 2. Introduce percentage "Quotes" for bets "For" and "Against" to make the point assignment completely flexible. 3. User bets would then accept or improve an available offer on either side. 4. During judgement (point assignment), the tendency will take "For/Against" into consideration appropriately.

A subsequent consideration is reworking the module to take advantage of the Userpoints module.

Would you kindly agree to make me a co-developer?

Thanks, Rex.

Hi,

thanks a lot for your offer to help out. You're welcome to join in as a developer. However, you need to get a CVS account before I can grant you write access to the CVS repository. Please note that I will add another developer as well, who did write a few days earlier than you (http://drupal.org/user/371984). I think it would be best if both of you could discuss and coordinate the changes you want to make. Happy hacking!

Regards,
Tobias

@ Tobias

Hi

my CVS account is "trex", thanks.

One last question: Should I keep the existing branch for soccer results and do a new branch for "general" bets? Reason: For soccer bets "4:1" is an exact outcome with extra points, but for binary bets with non-discrete outcomes it will award half points on exact hits.

Example: How many Euros much will the German government spend for subsidising banks in the financial crisis until 31 December 2008? One bet could be 34 billion with one person betting Higher and the other betting Lower. In the general binary format, if the result is exactly 34 bn each gets half the points.

Alternatively, I could generalise the module by putting a specific "results type" attribute in the market node ("Soccer", "Binary" for now). Probably more flexible and useful on the long run.

Please let me know what you think.

Thanks, Rex

Hi Rex,

I've granted you write access to the CVS repository. Welcome aboard! About the new branch: I think the more general approach is certainly better in the long run, so I would suggest to create a "result type" attribute for bets. Have fun!

Regards,
Tobias
